Equity in Action: Mobilizing Data to Inform Policy and Practice in the Commonwealth
The conference will highlight a public health approach to problem gambling. Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Understand the concepts of equity, engagement, and empowerment
- Explore ways to utilize data to inform policy and practice
- Identify ways to incorporate data to inform policy and practices within your roles and organizations.
About the Stipend Opportunity
- Attend the 2025 Annual Massachusetts Problem Gambling Conference!
- Attendees will earn Continuing Education (CE) credits, which can be applied toward the MA Problem Gambling Specialist (MA PGS) certification.
Awardees will receive a stipend of up to $250, which can be used to cover any/all of the following expenses to support conference attendance:
- Staff time to attend the conference
- Travel expenses to/from the conference (mileage, tolls, transit costs, hotel accommodations, etc.)
- Conference registration fee
This is a great opportunity to meet individuals who are working toward advancing the public health response to problem gambling while leading with equity.

This initiative is being offered by the Massachusetts Technical Assistance Center for Problem Gambling Treatment (M-TAC) and Project Build Up (PBU) programs. Project Build Up (PBU) is a workforce development program for Massachusetts-based organizations providing problem gambling treatment, recovery, and support services.
About the Application
Who can participate?
- Professionals who work in Massachusetts, and are interested in learning more about problem gambling treatment and recovery.
- Priority will be given to geographic and professional representation.
- Please note, Commonwealth of Massachusetts employees are not eligible for this stipend.
Important Steps for Awardees
Step 1 – Save the date on your calendar to attend the conference on June 4th, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood.
Step 2 – Register to attend the conference (Click here).
Step 3 – Complete and submit the online application below by May 12th, 2025.
Step 4 – Notifications will be sent out on May 23rd, 2025.
Final Step – Stipends will be issued by June 26th, 2025. *Please note, in order to receive the stipend, awardees must attend and participate in the full conference.
